The random number generator kept me in the Company Best Cookies section of the cookbook with Ting-a-Lings on p. 133. These were simple melt, mix and drop cookies chock full of butterscotch.

The Ting-a-Lings are perhaps the simpliest cookie so far in the book. There were several variations from chocolate mixed with Wheaties to the butterscotch and chow mien noodle version I decided to make.
First measure out the chow mien noodles and peanuts into a large bowl. Then simply melt the butterscotch chips, and mix that into the noodle and nuts.

Then spoon them out onto waxed paper (or parchment paper — something they won’t stick to).

That’s it. Melt, mix and drop. The only trick is to drop them quick enough that the butterscotch doesn’t harden too much before you’re done.
Bottom line: Ting-a-Lings are quick and simple to make. I love butterscotch and butterscotch chips, so I really liked these. However, they could be cloyingly sweet if you don’t have a taste for sweet like I do. That could be helped by adding more nuts, perhaps, to get a little more salt into the mix. I’d certainly make them again.
