I caught up on the random number generator with the Orange Oatmeal Cookies from the Company Best Cookies section of the cookbook on p. 128. These were crunchy oatmeal cookies with a hint of orange.

The Orange Oatmeal Cookies were very standard drop-type cookies.
They start by mixing the butter, eggs, sugar, orange juice and orange zest together. Then add the flour, salt, nutmeg and baking powder. Finally, the oatmeal is mixed in.

The cookies are dropped by spoonfuls on a cookie sheet.

And baked.

The Orange Oatmeal Cookies were very simple and quick to make. They came out soft, but by the second day were fairly crunchy. (Maybe because I used butter? But usually that makes them softer than shortening, so I don’t know.) The orange wasn’t super strong, but they had a nice hint of it both in taste and the smell.

Bottom line: Orange Oatmeal Cookies are very simple oatmeal cookies with a nice addition of a hint of orange flavor and scent. I’d certainly make them again when I wanted an oatmeal cookie with a little something extra.
